4th Sapphire Cupcake: [Video / Action for Cianwood] - Backdated to 27 April, early morning

[The feed suddenly clicks on at an ungodly hour of the morning, on a weird angle which shows that it's obviously sitting on the floor and has been accidentally turned on. There are crashes as growling Trapinch dashes past, followed by an annoyed looking Pineco.

The feed shows the two attempting to tackle each other and dodging, hitting furniture and slamming into the walls.

At this point, if anyone is wondering where the heck their owner is, he's dead to the world, snoring on the bed. You can just hear him in the background over the noise these two pokemon are making.

The pair become tangled up in a corner of the blanket which is draped on the floor. Struggling to both get loose, they pull the entire blanket off the bed, dragging three eggs with it.

They hit the ground with a crack and the feed blinds everyone watching with a series brilliant white lights.]

Karp...karp...karp...karp.

Reeeeep, Mareep?

Hor...seaaaaaa.

[The light fades and Spike's three newest pokemon are revealed (well, at least two of them...the Magikarp egg rolled off screen). Spike's Trapinch and Pineco, obviously surprised by this development, immediately start arguing, each blaming the other for what happened.]

What? Who's there?

[Cue their bleary owner, who has finally woken up.]

What the!?! YOU GUYS HATCHED?

[You can see Spike's feet as he hops off the bed, and starts frantically running around the room]

Oh Celestia, whatdoIdowhatdoIdowhatdoIdo???

Okay, stay cool Spike...you can handle this....

Wait, YOU'RE A FISH?!?

[A beat]

Water! I need water!

[Spike's legs race past into the bathroom, and you can hear the water being turned on in the bathtub as he dumps his Magikarp into it.]

I haven't seen one of those before. What's it called?

[Gee it seemed like everypony had eggs to hatch around here!]

[Spike isn't so surprised - everypony seems to have met one of his friends! It was definitely a sign of how long some of them had been stuck here.]

Oh yeah? Who have you met? Almost the whole gang is here, except Fluttershy. But Twilight said she was here for ages, but then she went home before I saw her...

[He examines Dingle with interest]

He looks almost the exact same as mine. Complete with the flopping about.

So, he's okay without water?

[Spike blinks. He wasn't expecting the question.]

Clean this room up for a start. Feed all my pokemon which reminds me I need to find out what you guys eat [Aimed at his newly hatched pokemon], and then Twilight wants me to run more errands for her...which means I'll need to write a checklist.

[Spike rolls his eyes]

Twilight loves checklists. She even has a checklist for making a checklist! I mean, who does that?

So...other people have troublesome pokemon too?

[That would make Spike happy to hear - he was feeling like he was the only one!]

Well...maybe. But if they don't like it, I wont keep them in there. Pinchy definitely doesn't like it...why am I not surprised...

[Spike blinks. Oh yeah, someone said something about fire pokemon helping to hatch eggs...]

I haven't seen her around...maybe she came in while I was working?

[Spike puffs up a bit at the praise]

Well, I am Spike, the best assistant ever! You have nothing to worry about.

[He glances over at the one unhatched egg on the bed.]

Maybe I need to ask Pyrolepi to help my Dratini egg hatch...

[Spike chuckles as he watches the pink round pokemon roll circles in the water. His Horsea trills in a high, excited pitch, and starts squirting water at Jigglypuff, making her roll faster.]

[Magikarp...flops. More. Although he does get a hit in with his tail, but whether or not that was actually on purpose or not, Spike has no idea.]

Well, you guys seem to get on well! Now I'll have to think of names for you both...

[It takes a few moments before Spike can get back to Rarity, and she can probably hear him thumping back and forth between the bedroom and the bathroom (likely through both the inn wall AND over the feed. He's looking a little wet and bedraggled.]

Oh Rarity! Sorry you woke up.

Yeah, he's in the tub now with Horsea. [Spike breathes a sigh of relief.]

They seem to be getting on okay.

[Even something as mundane as cleaning a room sounds like a new and amazing experience to Dorumon. Errands? What kind of errands could someone run in a place like this?]

I don't know. I don't know anyone who writes checklists to begin with. [What a strange thing to do.]

Oh I wouldn't be surprised if she was already there, as maternal as she is. They seem to practically call her. I've been tempted to suggest we all stack any eggs we get in a pile for her to lie on.

[She seems rather amused by the idea, probably because it is kind of a funny mental image.]

Well, now that we're up and your Pokemon seem to be in decent shape, we should get to work, shouldn't we? A nice early start to the day sounds like a great plan.

I think her name's Pinkie? [Just cause he's met her doesn't mean he KNOWS her, but he seems to recall that being her name. Maybe.

He moves the gear to showcase Dingle a little better. It's not like he moves around a lot or anything.]

Oh, yeah, flopping is... pretty much all he does. He likes water, a lot, but he's okay without it for a while. I keep him in his ball most of the time, but... [He gestures at the Magikarp. He was going to say 'but being out doesn't kill him' but now that he's thinking about it, he can't really say that with complete certainty, considering Dingle's tendency to look half-dead at the best of times.]

It's a Swinub or so I've been told but I refer to him simply as the furball, to think of it, I probably should give him a real name soon now that I know it's a boy...

[Shinji mutters some possible Pokemon names under his breath until he finally returns to the conversation.]

Oh, eggs... I know one is supposed to contain a bird of some sort and the other is a plant. I was told how they are called but I've never heard about them before so I don't remember...

Man, you're lucky. Twilight makes me write checklists for her all the time. Half the time, I end up with claw cramp coz they're so long. And than I have to double and triple check the checklist to make sure everything has been checked off.

Honestly that pony is way too organised.

A swinub huh? [Spike takes the opportunity to quickly scribble something in his notebook and sketch a picture of the swinub for future reference]

A plant? That's kind of a weird animal...although I have an electric sheep, so it's not like I can talk.

[Spike crosses his arms] Hopefully your bird isn't an owl.

[Spike looks over his shoulder towards the bathroom, where he can hear his Horsea and Magikarp splashing]

So they don't...really do anything else then?

Well, at least they're okay out of water, for a while anyway. I guess when we leave Cianwood I'll have to put him in a fishbowl or a pokeball...

No, actually I'm a dragon. Spike the awesome dragon. My friends are all ponies though. Most of them are here - we're only missing Fluttershy, but apparently she was able to go home.

[Spike studies Dorumon. He doesn't look familiar...]

[Spike whines, looking unhappy]

Awww c'mon Twilight! It's like...4am!

[He yawns]

It's way too early to be awake! I need my sleep! I'm a growing dragon, remember?

[Spike pretty much leaves the trio to it. Also, they were getting him really wet. Horsea manages to use bubble to elevate Jigglypuff into the air a few centimetres before she drops with a splash back into the water. Magikarp...flops more. But he seems really excited.]

[Spike feels guilty for waking everypony up, especially Rarity.]

[Spike's Mareep wanders over. She seems pretty docile, and nudges him gently. Spike looks at her startled. She's the first of his pokemon to show any kind of affection to him. She is pretty darn cute though.]

Um...hi there. I'm Spike. I'm your...uh...trainer?

Mar mar. [The Mareep settles on his lap like a fluffy cushion, so he pats her awkwardly.]

[Back to Rarity.]

I think everything's okay now.

Maybe you can sleep in? I could make you breakfast and bring it to you when you wake up again?

[Ooh dragons.] No, I'm a Digimon. And I'm sort of a dragon. [We're cool, right? The coolest.]

[He shakes his head and shrugs, because what else can you really do when discussing the relative usefulness of a Magikarp?]

Not really, no. But it'll be worth it when it grows up.

Definitely don't leave it out when you're traveling, unless you wait for it to flop fast enough to catch up.

[ Rarity stares at the Mareep. She can't help but notice how it looks exactly like a sheep. Right down to the wool. But she tears her eyes away from it. ]

No, no, you've certainly got your claws full as it is. [ She tries to stifle another yawn, unsuccessfully. ] How about I bring you breakfast instead? I'll just pop off for a few more hours...

[ She can't keep herself awake much longer. Bright and early the next morning she prepares a simple breakfast and brings it into Spike's room; he must be extra busy what with all the new creatures on his hands. ]

That name sounds weird, I definitely wouldn't be using it... if one of my eggs hatched into an owl, I'd call it... [He starts muttering again, this time about possible names for an owl Pokemon.] Did you have some kind of bad experience with owls?
